Finishers Medallions

Congratulations to all the finishers of the 2008 New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K. Although we had anticipated an increase in the participation from our 2007 event, we were pleasantly surprised; however, we were unprepared for the tremendous increase of participants (from previous years) for our Half-Marathon and 5K events.

With these greater numbers, there were some things that could be addressed immediately, and participant safety was paramount: ample water and Gatorade in the heat, for example. Unfortunately, our custom finishers' medallions take time to produce -- about 6-8 weeks. We were aware of the shortfall, but not in enough time to have more medals on race day. We communicated this problem as best we could: announcements regarding the finishers' medals were made prior to the start of the race, were included on the website, and in the preprinted race day instructions. In the event you were not given a finishers' medal, thank you for your patience and understanding, and please be assured they will be mailed to you once our reorder is received.

Again, we thank everyone for their participation in our 2008 New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year on February 1st, 2009.

Sincerely,
Mike Cambre
